Halo Hearts Foundation hosts 2nd annual 5K [Video]

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A non-profit foundation that serves and supports patients and families dealing with health-related adversity hosted their yearly 5K Sunday.

More than 100 people participated in the race. At the start line, Winnie Cha explained why she and her sibling Peter founded Halo Hearts.

“I started it to give back to the community. My mom got breast cancer and my older brother had lymphoma when he was younger….basically my family has been in and out of the hospital, so I wanted to give back,” Winnie says.

Winnie, who is a high school junior at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, suffered from a congenital heart defect at 6 years old. Her brother Peter was diagnosed with cancer when he was 10.

She and Peter held a race to support their mission of providing support to children and teens living with cancer and cardiac illnesses.
