Great Plains SPCA launches fundraising campaign after drop in adoptions [Video]

The Great Plains SPCA is currently in need of assistance as pet adoptions have fallen by 25 percent over the past six months.It’s all coming after the shelter has seen a record number of animals taken in last year.”The big dogs are definitely the thing. They get stuck in shelters, and we don’t know whether it’s because of cost of care or training. It’s definitely impacting the length of stay,” Tam Singer, CEO of Great Plains SPCA, told KMBC on Monday.This issue is exemplified by Lucas, a 3-year-old lab mix who recently marked his 500th day at the shelter. In response to these challenges, the shelter has initiated the Lend A Paw Program, aiming to raise $380,000 by the end of July.
