Franklin girl who sells cookies for her heart surgery is in recovery [Video]

FRANKLIN, Ky. (WBKO) – Paislee Howard underwent open heart surgery in May and is continuing her chocolate chip cookie sales to alleviate the costs of the procedure.

Paislee’s mother Alyssa Howard told WBKO the surgery went well, and she was out of the hospital within four days.

Paislee has had articular septal defect since birth, a condition that causes holes in the heart.

The Howard family said the community has reached helping hands in more ways than one: participating in a meal train for the family, dropping off gifts and blankets, and of course, buying lots of Paislee’s chocolate chip cookies.

“She’s felt the most loved the last few weeks,” Howard said. “She’s a warrior that’s for sure, but a warrior needs a village, and I am so thankful we have this community in our village.”
