Former State Senator Joyce Elliott suffers stroke [Video]

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — According to reports, former Arkansas State Senator Joyce Elliott has been hospitalized after suffering a recent stroke while on a trip to Dallas, Texas.

Her family stated that Senator Elliott underwent two days of treatment in Texas before being transferred to Little Rock. She had a successful surgery and is currently focused on recovering.

She is expected to begin a rehabilitation program as soon as possible.

Senator Elliott is an Arkansas native known for her years of service to the Natural State and tireless work as a civil rights activist. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Get Loud Arkansas working to increase civic participation.
