Experts say protect your skin while working outside [Video]

SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WTVG) – Landscapers at Greater Toledo Home Giveaway are planting future sources of shade in Monday’s hot sun.

“Definitely stay hydrated at all times,” said Eric Carroll, owner of Carroll Landscape and Nursery in Monclova. “We have a cooler full of water, bottled water for the guys.”

On May 20, Carroll’s employees, including his son Austin, were on the job in Sylvania Township. All of the workers were wearing long-sleeve protective clothing. That’s something Carroll worked into his uniforms after he received several diagnoses of melanoma.

“Being someone that’s fought some skin cancer and stuff, we wear SPF shirts. Everybody does,” explained Carroll.

The $10k landscaping project is part of the Greater Toledo Home Giveaway. Employees of Carroll are putting in all of the foliage and hydroseeding the lawn in a single day.
