At a camp Friday at Creighton, Omaha-area children with special needs got to run basketball drills with some of their favorite Bluejays.
Around 90 children attended the sixth annual Creighton Abilities Camp, where they worked on their basketball and agility skills with Creighton student athletes and physical therapy students.
Each child was paired with a Creighton physical therapy student who accompanied them throughout the camp, according to Creighton Sports Information Director Rob Anderson. Creighton men’s and women’s basketball players helped lead the activities, which included shooting and passing drills.
Anderson said the camp is designed to accommodate children in whatever level of participation they are comfortable with, something other camps might not offer.
