Community rallies around 7-year-old De Pere boy battling cancer [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – At the Woods Golf Club Saturday afternoon, a community came together to support seven-year-old Owen Obey, in a fight with cancer that can be overwhelming at times, for him and his family. So his extended family hosted a fundraiser for them.

“It helps them out quite a bit,” Owen’s uncle Brandon Dehn said. “It helps them think about the things they need to get done rather than the bills that need to get paid.”

Owen has been battling osteosarcoma, a bone cancer, since last summer. The disease has taken his left leg and put him through countless treatments of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries.

“He was supposed to finish up treatment in March but they found more tumors, so we’re still looking for the answer to curing him,” his mom Chelsi Weber said. “Owen is just a warrior, I don’t know how every chemo treatment, every …
