Cancer Screening

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – While the overall rate of colorectal cancer is decreasing, a rise in patients younger than 50 years old has been reported, according to colorectal surgeon Doug Rosen with Novant Health.

That change has prompted a change in the age for recommended screenings. Now, screening is recommended at age 45 instead of age 50.

A few signs to watch out for are:

  • Changes in bowel habits
  • Blood in stool
  • Abdominal pain
