City officials in Las Vegas are asking residents to immediately restrict water usage in the city. According to city officials, water usage should only be reserved for essential needs only. Those essential needs include consumption, personal hygiene, medical needs, and meal preparation. The city recommends that household toilets should only be flushed when absolutely necessary, and shower times should be limited. The city is also encouraging residents to strictly limit the use of dishwashers, washing machines and high-water usage appliances. The filling of bathtubs or large containers of water is not recommended at this time. The restrictions come after the city entered into Stage 4 water restrictions.City officials say the water treatment plant experienced delays in processing water for consumption after flooding increased turbidity in the Gallinas River.
