ChristianaCare expands urgent care as MedExpress faces closures [Video]

NEWARK – ChristianaCare announced a continuation in expansion efforts, bringing more clinical services throughout Delaware through four new urgent care centers.

The incoming ChristianaCare-GoHealth Urgent Care operations will open July 14 – three in New Castle County in Newark, New Castle and Wilmington and one in Dover situated in the heart of Kent County. The additions bring the health care system to 14 urgent care locations in Delaware and two in Maryland.

ChristianaCare also announced plans to consolidate the current Fairfax location in north Wilmington into a new site on Concord Pike in the near future.

All five locations were previously leased by MedExpress Urgent Care, an urgent care chain of clinics owned by Optum which is a subsidiary of United Health Group, signaling a continued shift as its last urgent care center in Delaware shuttered its doors.
