Cash Money, a beloved therapy dog, recently diagnosed with cancer [Video]

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM/Gray News) – Cash Money, a beloved therapy dog in Mississippi, has been diagnosed with cancer.

After some blood work and many tests, Cash’s family said they received a diagnosis no one wanted to hear.

“They diagnosed him with a very large tumor in his chest,” said Cash’s owner and handler, Melinda Lowery.

Shortly after Cash’s diagnosis, veterinarians decided that they couldn’t operate on the tumor, and unfortunately, it would require chemotherapy, WDAM reported.

“He’s had one round of chemo,” said Lowery. “If it’s a certain type of tumor, he would be more responsive to chemo and radiation, so hopefully that’s the type of tumor that he has, and we can go forward with the chemoradiation.”

Cash has visited numerous nursing homes, patients and students at the University of Southern Mississippi.

“When they see him, it just turns their day around and so many people tell me that,” said Lowery. “It’s just …
