Carolyns Kaleidoscope works to help children cope with abuse [Video]

WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WECT) – When it comes to keeping children safe, Carolyn’s Kaleidoscope wants parents to know that a lack of knowledge can leave children more vulnerable to abuse.

A program offered by Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina, Carolyn’s Kaleidoscope is a children’s advocacy center in Columbus County. Carolyn’s Kaleidoscope helps children who are victims of physical or sexual abuse.

The center provides forensic interviews, therapy, and advocacy to children who have dealt with abuse. Carolyn’s Kaleidoscope does not only serve Columbus County but also helps assist cases in Bladen, Robinson, and surrounding counties.

Carolyn’s Kaleidoscope works with law enforcement agencies, the district attorney’s office, and child protective services as a neutral party to help serve children.

When children arrive at the center, they will be taken into a private room where they interview with a trained staff member. Law enforcement can listen and watch in on the interview in a separate room. Staff say they want to …
