Carlsbad residents say county security improvements to controversial Windsor Pointe isnt enough [Video]

CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — It’s been virtually 60 days since the last Carlsbad City Council discussed issues surrounding the low income and supportive housing complex known as Windsor Pointe, and residents say there has been zero progress. So much so, one long-time resident is considering moving out.

“This whole neighborhood watches each other,” said Deborah Davis, a Carlsbad resident. Thirty years ago, Davis’s neighborhood looked different. “We take care of each other,” she added.

Right now, her family-friendly haven is now riddled with warning signs, crime and police activity—all captured in nightly videos taken by residents.

“Cops are here all the time, a swarm of SUV vehicles, all at once,” Davis said.

Neighbors blame the building next door—Windsor Pointe—a mix of 50 units of low-income and permanent supportive housing for people once homeless or diagnosed with severe mental illness. It’s right around the corner from Jefferson Elementary.
