Cancer center to be built in Cumberland County [Video]

Penn State Health is breaking ground on a cancer center in Hampden Township.

The health system plans to open Penn State Health Cancer Center at Hampden Medical Center at 2200 Good Hope Road.

“The new cancer center will ensure patients have easy access to world-class care from a multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists, as well as innovative therapies, the latest technology and the benefits of leading-edge cancer research, all close to home,” the health system said in a news release.

Hampden Medical Center opened in 2021.

Cumberland County is one of the fastest growing counties in the states and the health systems have noticed. In recent years, Penn State Health, UPMC and WellSpan Health have all expanded in Cumberland County. Penn State Health has hospitals in the Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg areas. UPMC has hospitals in the Mechanicsburg and Carlisle areas, and opened a second outpatient center for cancer care on Technology Parkway in Hampden Township earlier this year. …
