Buddy Check 3: Breast cancer patients benefit from blood donors [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks is a KY3 partner in this monthly effort called Buddy Check 3. We urge consistency with self breast-exams and other medical guidelines to detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage.

BCFO’s primary mission is to help breast cancer patients get through the everyday financial struggles of fighting the disease. But BCFO, itself has gotten some extra financial help recently from the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks.

On a typical morning at the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks in Springfield, a half-dozen or more people are already in place and giving, not only their blood but their time to the very time-consuming process of donating components of their blood, like plasma, platelets, or white blood cells.
