Breast Cancer Radiation Appointments: Consultation, Simulation, Dry Run, and Treatments [Video]

Did you recently have breast cancer surgery? Did your oncology team tell you that you most likely will need radiation as a next step? Are you nervous about what to expect coming up with radiation appointments? Do you want more information? While I’m providing my perspective and memory of radiation from the point of view of a breast cancer survivor, I pray that I can help alleviate some of your fears and help you feel more prepared for your upcoming radiation appointments. I hope knowing that they don’t just start throwing radiation at you will help calm some of your fears. There’ are SEVERAL appointments you go to before you actually start the treatments. The appointments will most likely include a consultation, simulation, dry run, and THEN finally your actual radiation treatments. There’s a real science behind all of the treatment you’re about to have, and they work to make every thing very precise to your unique needs and your unique breast cancer journey.
