Avoid dangerous blood clots with minimally invasive interventions such as watchman

Taking care of heart problems can help prevent stroke. For example, if you have atrial fibrillation (AFib), there’s a fivefold increase in your risk for stroke. This is because AFib can cause a blood clot leading to stroke. Patent foramen ovale (PFO), an opening between the two upper chambers of the heart that never closed at birth, can also cause blood clots.

Hear Srini Iyengar, MD, interventional cardiologist and director of BCH’s Structural Heart & Valve Program, describe WATCHMAN, a minimally invasive, catheter-based procedure for reducing AFib stroke risk. He will then discuss a minimally invasive, catheter-based procedure for PFO closure.
