Australian news outlet mocks Victoria MP for emotional climate change speech (VIDEO)

Late last month, Laurel Collins, Victoria MP in the House of Commons made a heartfelt speech regarding the current state of the climate crisis, how it will impact future generations and how some terminology being used is not politically correct. 

After posting this video to her own X account, the video was found and mocked by an Australian news outlet, Sky News Australia. 

Sky News host Rita Panahi specifically made fun of Collins for saying that climate emergencies are not “gender neutral” as they impact women and girls disproportionately. 

Collins was doing so by saying that Conservative MPs have been referring to the NDPs as “climate hysterics.” 

This term is one that is rooted in misogyny, as it has been historically used to refer to women deemed to be too emotional by men.
