Arizona lawmaker sheds light on abortion misconceptions [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Arizona state senator is once again sharing her deeply personal firsthand experience with abortion to try and dispel misconceptions about who this ruling impacts.

Democratic Sen. Eva Burch is deeply disturbed by the state supreme court’s decision this week, which comes nearly one month after announcing her pregnancy and plans for an abortion. She had the medical procedure three weeks ago.

“I think that we do talk about abortion care a lot, but do we talk a lot about the reasons people seek abortions? No,” Sen. Burch said.

In an emotional speech on the Senate floor last month, Burch detailed her experience with infertility and miscarriages. She shared that she and her husband decided to seek an abortion after discovering their wanted pregnancy would not make it full term.
