Annual Wisconsin Rapids golf outing takes its swing against cancer [Video]

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) – Golfers took their swing against cancer down in Wisconsin Rapids on Monday for the 11th annual Swing Against Cancer Golf Outing at Ridges Golf Course.

Packers, Badgers, and Brewers greats were all on hand.

The first 10 years have raised more than $291,000 which has been directly gifted to 194 people.

A total of 43 teams and several former athletes took part, including former Packer Johnnie Gray. Badger greats Travis Beckum and Jared Abbrederis also took in the day on the links. Someone even challenged Abbrederis to a foot race.

Former Badger running back and 2008 Big Ten Player of the Year John Clay has seen both of his parents battle cancer and win.

“I want to be part of stuff like this and get people involved,” Clay said. “You don’t know what people are going through behind closed doors. So, some stuff like this is special.”
