Alicia Silverstone and Her Son in New PETA Campaign on Animal Dissection [Video]

Alicia Silverstone and her son, Bear, are working together to support PETA’s new campaign.

PETA created the “Cut Class, Not Frogs” campaign to empower schoolchildren to feel comfortable saying no to animal dissection in school — and to raise awareness about animal-free dissection methods.

PEOPLE has an exclusive look at the video Silverstone, 47, and 12-year-old Bear filmed for the new campaign.

In the clip, Silverstone encourages viewers to forgo the “violence” of animal dissection.

“We want our kids to be sensitive, thoughtful creatures walking through the world,” the Clueless star says in the video, which includes shots of Silverstone posing with Bear in a school hallway.

“Dissection is the only thing we ask our kids to do in school that we would be disturbed to find out they were doing outside of school. Cutting up dead animals desensitizes them. It tells them it’s OK to hurt other creatures, to hurt each other,” Silverstone adds in the video.
