Juneau lawmakers debate multiple bills as midnight deadline nears for legislature

With Wednesday’s midnight deadline looming to pass legislation or let it die on the floor, Alaska House and Senate lawmakers had a busy day Tuesday, passing several bills, a couple of which are the governor’s priorities relating to energy.

Iditarod champion Rick Mackey died Monday following a 19-month battle with cancer, according to his family. He was 71 years old.

Preliminary results released election night didn’t include any votes cast on election day. Election officials said Tuesday’s voting results will likely be included in Thursday’s vote count.
