A Heartfelt Graduation Ceremony: Utica College Holds Commencement | Education [Video]

UTICA, N.Y. — Hundreds of students from Utica University received their degrees at a graduation ceremony in the Adirondack Bank Center, and while each student has a story to tell, one student is just lucky to be here.

The Adirondack Bank Center was filled with hundreds of proud parents who came to see their children graduate from college.

Among them is Geralynn Owens, who also happens to be an adjunct nursing professor at Utica University. 

“I didn’t even know if my daughter would graduate from High School, so this is like a dream,” Geralynn said. 

Her daughter, Anna, was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 14 and was very fortunate to have survived.

Anna says her experience with the tumor inspired her to pursue a degree in science and occupational therapy.
