SPRINGVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) -The 9th annual Austin Strong Ride and Drive raised money in honor of Austin Smith.
He passed away at the age of five in 2016 after being diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma.
The Austin Strong Foundation partnered with Sally’s On Broadway for the event, and raised tens of thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer research.
“All of us can use the reminder that life is very fragile and I know that’s something we’ve thought about everyday since… you know don’t forget the people fighting out there in the meantime that’s why we’re here that’s why we’re all here” said Austin’s mom Mikinzie Smith.
