33 Dave Roberts: When The Psychology Professor Met The Minister [Video]

Psychology professor Dave Roberts grew up knowing all about loss. Abandoned by his father at a young age, he was raised by a single mom and maternal aunts. His mother died as he was raising his own family, and then in the spring of 2002, the unthinkable happened.

His vibrant 18 year old daughter Jeannine, who had just given birth to her only child, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. This left Dave reeling, especially because he had just completed his master’s degree and was on cloud nine as a new grandfather.

Dave’s daughter fought bravely for 10 months, but ultimately lost her battle with cancer in March of 2003. For several years after her passing, Dave received what he thought might have been signs of love from Jeannine like butterflies and rainbows… but he remained a skeptical man of science.

In 2003, Dave’s perception of things began to shift when he met Reverend Patty Furino, who had received messages from Jeannine on the other side. During a weekend of spiritual awakening, Dave became convinced of her continued existence on a different plane of reality, and it completely transformed his life and deeply held beliefs.

The outcome of Dave’s experience became a book he co-wrote with Reverend Patty entitled, “When The Psychology Professor Met The Minister.” Still a man who believes and teaches about scientific evidence, Dave now believes in the integration of belief, and that a holistic approach allows for the complexities and nuances of life to exist with a wider and still truthful lens.
