LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The newest member of the Louisville Bats will take the field on Sunday, June 2.
He’s no ordinary ball player — he’s the Norton Children’s “Super Kid.”
Konner Steiner, 12, signed a one-day contract with the team.
Steiner was diagnosed with leukemia in June 2021. After his original chemotherapy was unsuccessful, he returned to Norton Children’s Cancer Institute for a more aggressive treatment.
Steiner has since moved on to outpatient treatment, going once a month and takes at-home chemotherapy pills daily. Steiner is scheduled to finish his treatment this November.
Steiner will join the Bats for the game on Sunday, assisting Bats Manager Pat Kelly with team strategy and meeting with Bats players and coaches throughout the day.
He will also be joining the Bats athletic trainers to help with player preparations.
